American Legion Post 65 invites all of First Presbyterian Church of Lansdowne to the first annual Veteran’s Day celebration dinner in Irwin Hall on Friday night November 9th. We will have complimentary beer, wine, soda, coffee along with a buffet dinner, special historical speaker, door prizes/50-50, music, and dancing. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Veteran’s Comfort Project of Philadelphia. Tickets are $25 and payable at the door. RSVP to Richard Smalley or Jennifer Cain if you wish to attend so we can have an accurate count for the caterer. Come and support the Veterans!
Join your church family early in the morning to help decorate the First Presbyterian Church of Lansdowne float and cheer the float riders on! Maybe we can win first prize for the best organizational float!!!!! Enjoy the day with your Lansdowne community and afterwards gather on the church lawn with your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics. We always have a good time socializing with each other as we watch the "tall" fireworks.
Refugees are forced to flee their country of nationality as they are under threat and it is not safe for them to remain. We are standing with our refugee neighbors as they seek safety and security.
We are standing for welcome!
This service will feature, special music, performances and stories from immigrants in our congregation.
In this age of our government tearing apart refugee families, the First Presbyterian Church is proud of our efforts to re-unite families. In conjunction with PRIME immigration services and money raised by our Mission Committee, we were able to assist one of our immigrant families with legal services and travel expenses to bring their son over from Liberia.
Admission – Suggested Donation - $10
Reception following the film
Because of the War, a new film produced by the Philadelphia Folklore
Project, shares the stories of four brilliant singers – mothers, refugees, immigrants,
survivors of Liberia’s civil wars – who use their music to address violence and injustice
at home and in exile. Superstar recording artists Zaye Tete, Fatu Gayflor, Marie
Nyenabo and Tokay Tomah are featured in the movie.
In Philadelphia, four Liberian women use their music to address injustice and inspire
action for social change. Survivors of Liberia’s civil wars, they are accomplished,
brilliant singers – mothers, refugees, immigrants, Africans – who haven’t stopped
contributing positively to the world, no matter the obstacles. Because of the
War documents the power of traditional songs to make meaningful connections
between and among people, and to help re-build communities.
A live performance by Zaye Tete, featured in the film, will follow the movie

Celebrate Christmas eve with us. All children are invited to participate in the Christmas story pagent. Meet at the back of the church to find your costume and line up! Special music abounds! One of the most joyous services of the church year!!! BE THERE!
This is an annual tradition for all our children. All families are invited to join the lunch with Santa by making a reservation with Carmella Kane or a member of the Mission Committee. Please indicate to Carmella the name, age, sex of your child that will be in attendance and a suggestion for a small toy that Santa can present during the luncheon. It is very important that Carmella has your reservation!!! We don't want to have a child in attendance and not have a present from Santa for them, so please please please register.
If you do not have children in your family unit, join us anyway for the fun. We simply ask that you allow families to have first choice in seating so they can sit together as a unit at the luncheon. Thanks for your cooperation.
