Frequently asked questions.

Where do I go?

Our campus has many doors & entrances, which can be somewhat confusing. There are 4 entrances to the sanctuary. On Sunday mornings, an usher will be there to greet you when you arrive.

Once you’re inside, feel free to appreciate the neo-gotchic architecture and stained glass before worship begins. It’s also likely that someone (maybe many folks) will come introduce themselves to you before worship begins! Currently, several pews are closed off to make space for distancing during the pandemic. Feel free to sit anywhere that isn’t roped off.

Where do I park?

The church has a small parking lot behind the sanctuary. If the lot is full, you can park on any of the neighborhood streets. That said, if you’re close, many members walk on Sunday morning to church. We also have a bike rack located at the back of the education building.

If you have a handicap placard or license plate, you may park in the designated spots, or on the pull through driveway on the side of the sanctuary closest to Lansdowne Ave.

*Please do not park on Lansdowne Ave and block the sidewalk, and the bike lane. Thank you!

Public Transportation

Train. We are a 0.4 mile walk from the Lansdowne Station on the Media/Elwyn Regional Rail Line.

Bus: We are one block from the SEPTA bus stop at Lansdowne Ave & Stewart Ave (bus routes 113 & 115).

Trolley: We are a 0.7 mile walk from the Lansdowne Ave. Station (trolley routes 101 & 102).

Do I need to dress up?

Only if you want to! There will be folks in t-shirts, jeans, shorts, dresses, suits, slacks, ties, bowties, heels, sneakers, flip-flops…even kilts on some Sundays! Whatever you’re comfortable in, you’ll be welcome here!

What’s the service like?

Our Sunday Worship service is a fairly traditional reformed worship service. We sing hymns, have a chancel choir, as well as a bell choir. We also have a very talented worship band, First Light, that leads us occasionally. Several of our first light musicians are professionals who tour elsewhere. So, it can be hard to get them all together, but when we do, it is worth it!

Timewise, the services last around an hour, and you can expect the sermon to be around 15 minutes.

We have coffee hour after worship to enjoy each other’s fellowship, and if the weather is nice, we’ll have lemonade on the front lawn!

Can I take communion?

Yes! As Presbyterians, we practice an open table. We believe that Jesus Christ alone invites us to the table, and that invitation is sufficient. We also know that children learn their faith through ritual practice. So, whether they are baptized or not, they are welcome to join us in the feast of the kingdom of God!

Is your campus accessible to all?

While we try to make our space as accessible as possible, there are some limitations to accessibility on our campus. All of our buildings were built before the American with Disabilities Act of 1990. So, while we have some accessible spaces, we still have a ways to go. Currently:

  • Our Sanctuary is wheelchair accessible, and we have a designated space for those who use wheelchairs just inside the breezeway door.

  • Irwin Hall, our larger event space, is accessed by a descending staircase. There is a stair lift located at Irwin Hall’s exterior door for those who can use that to go up and down the stairs.

  • The remainder of the campus is accessed by anywhere from 3-5 stairs at each doorway with several staircases inside. Unfortunately, at this time we do not have any elevators inside the buildings.
